No, Captain...They're ALIVE.

Ok, so I haven't posted in a few days. There's a few reasons why:

Justin, why didn't you post on Thursday night?
  • I had an exam on Friday.
  • I had a project due Friday.
  • I had a paper due Friday.
Justin, why didn't you post on Friday night?
  • I had the gym at 4 (it was rough).
  • I got my oil changed afterwards.
  • I went to the movies.
Justin, why didn't you post on Saturday night?
  • I left for Washington, D.C. at 2:30 PM and didn't come back until 3:30 AM Sunday morning.
So, THERE.

But now I am posting and I have things to say.

First: go see Zodiac. A really, really good movie. I'd say the best comparison for it is JFK -- it's a long, historical, story that does not really have a "Hollywood" conclusion. Sorry if I ruined it for you, but if you know anything about the Zodiac killings, here: the guy was never officially identified or caught...like how the conspiracy surrounding the JFK assassination has never been official or anything.

But Robert Downey Jr. and Jake Gyllenhaal are awesome in it. So not only do you have Iron Man and Donnie Darko...but did I mention there are appearances by Casey Jones, William Stryker, and Goose (from Top Gun)?! Mark Ruffalo is terrific, too...but he hasn't played any comic book/action movie hero.

I'm sure that it will become more and more fashionable to bash the movie for being long and the fact that it has no "the good guys catch the bad guys!" ending. But I really liked it.

Zach Galifianakis is now arguably my favorite stand-up comedian ever. If you have to the chance to see him live, please do so immediately.

I've seen some terrible trailers recently. Dead Silence (again), Disturbia, Perfect Stranger, The Hills Have Eyes 2, Premonition, Vacancy, Skinwalkers, Kickin' It Old School, and The Reaping...to name a few.

Can I really blame studios for making these abominations, though? I mean, Ghost Rider was #1 at the box office for two weeks and was only trumped by Wild Hogs. Uggggh. Apparently our society has some weird adoration for shitty movies involving motorcycles.

If I had to rank the Star Wars films, I'd go this way:
  1. The Empire Strikes Back
  2. Revenge of the Sith
  3. A New Hope
  4. Attack of the Clones
  5. Return of the Jedi
  6. The Phantom Menace
I think I could flip-flop on the last two, though.

I also believe that, if you are watching the films for the first time, you should watch them in numerical order; Episode I - VI.

Done and done.

I've made just about $60 on eBay in a week or so. Booyah-kashah!

Song recommendation: "Say Hello to the Angels" by Interpol
It is like, a microcosm representing the epitome of the current rock scene.
Movie recommendation: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I wished Part II was as dark as this one -- it's just cooler than anyone could have expected. I'm very excited for the TMNT animated film on March 23.

Land of the Lost!
J
